Episode 32 : Roopesh Shetty, the rock star of Tulu and Kannada big screens - Part 1

A talented youth from Kudla, Roopesh Shetty is a radio jockey (RJ), actor, singer, model, anchor and song writer. Roopesh was born in Uppala, Kasargod in the year 1991 to a tulu speaking family. He was always attracted to the entertainment industry and wanted to build a career in it. Soon, he joined a popular local TV channel in Mangaluru as an anchor where he got the chance to host some of the popular reality TV shows. His talents were quickly noticed and he soon got offers to anchor many shows worldwide. At that time, he joined a popular radio station in Mangaluru as a radio jockey, after which he never looked back. His first break in the film industry came when he was offered a small role in the Tulu film "Dibanna", after which he was offered the lead role in another Tulu film "Ice Cream" and in a Kannada film "Danger Zone". When he was hosting a dance reality show a few years ago, Devraj Kumar was present during the shoot. He was impressed with Roopesh's hosting skills and thought he would be perfect for the lead role of his debut directorial. Roopesh was then asked to audition for the film and was selected for the role thereafter. With his new release " Nishabda 2" performing well at the box office, this Tulunadu lad is making waves across Karnataka. As for whether he is likely to get into the Malayalam film industry, he says that since he is basically from Kasargod, he knows the language and follows their films. He has been offered a pivotal role in one of the films but will officially announce it after the signing.
